OTAMap Live TV Support
Quick answers to common questions, and how to reach us when they don't cover it.
1. Getting started
- Plug your HDHomeRun into your home router with the antenna connected.
- Make sure your iPhone or iPad is on the same Wi-Fi network as the HDHomeRun.
- Install OTAMap Live TV from the App Store and open it.
- The app auto-discovers every HDHomeRun on the network and pulls the channel lineup. The On Now grid populates within a few seconds.
- Tap any channel to watch. On iPad, try the Multi-View tab to watch up to four channels at once.
2. The app says "No tuners found"
- Confirm the HDHomeRun is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network (not a guest network).
- Try the HDHomeRun's own app first to verify the tuner is reachable from this iPhone/iPad. If the official app can't see it either, the device itself isn't visible to your network — restart your router and the HDHomeRun.
- Tap "Search Again" on the empty-state card.
- If you just want to explore the app without hardware, tap "Try Demo Mode" — the app shows a sample lineup with bundled clips.
3. A channel won't play, or plays with glitches
- Check the signal strength readout. Anything below ~55 SS is marginal reception and will glitch.
- If the channel is recorded successfully in HDHomeRun's official app but not in OTAMap Live TV, file a bug below.
- Other channels in the same multiplex (same RF) on a legacy DUAL — Multi-View now correctly picks the right sub-channel for each tile.
4. Demo Mode
- Toggle on in Preferences (More tab on iPhone, sidebar on iPad).
- A six-channel sample lineup populates with bundled, copyright-free clips.
- The OTAMap Antenna Pointing Utilities — Compass view, AR pointer, station card, tropo overlay, contour view, signal-path profile — everything except the channel lineup itself works normally using your real location.
- Toggle off to return to live HDHomeRun discovery.
5. Permissions the app asks for
- Local Network — required, used to discover HDHomeRuns on your Wi-Fi.
- Location While Using — used only to compute distance and bearing from where you are to each TV transmitter. Never leaves the device.
- Camera — only when you open the AR pointer view. Otherwise unused.
